 Today, a valid, worthwhile and relevant education is not only concerned with knowledge, but also with skills. In the past, education typically involved delivering a standard syllabus of subject topics to groups of learners, who learnt what teachers taught. For many years, education was a one-way street. In many institutions, it remains so.

However,
enormous changes in technology and society are leading to new ways
of thinking, and so to a very different educational landscape. The
whole purpose of education, the techniques of teaching and learning
and the needs and expectations of the learners themselves have
changed. The world needs learned people with skills who can
communicate effectively, construct incisive arguments and propose
effective courses of action. We need men and women who can enthuse
and inspire others, leading by example.
